Meet three year old Thomas! Thomas is in the care of his grandparents
who work tirelessly to ensure he gets all that he needs to flourish. Thomas is in his critical learning period right
now and insurance would not cover his sessions. Thomas' grandmother discovered Small Steps for Speech, a nonprofit
organization which awards grants to children in need of speech therapy. Thomas was our first child to receive a grant
awarding him a years worth of speech therapy. Thomas is putting 2-3 words together currently and is a joy to see progress.

Meet Emma! Emma is a five year old with apraxia who came to us last spring.
Emma's mom and I learned how to fight insurance to ensure Emma her allotted visits. In addition Emma was awarded
a grant through Penn Mar Disability Services which allows her two visits a week during the school year and three over the
summer. Emma is making great gains! It brings a smile to my face to hear "want" instead of "wamp".
Emma has a long road ahead as for all children with apraxia however every day her little message gets clearer and clearer!
Emma's mom is in the midst of publishing a book to share Emma's struggles.

Meet three year old Joseph! Joseph's mom contacted us a few months
ago frustrated as Joseph was losing language skills. Mom was able to secure Joseph funding to pay for private therapy
since their insurance company denied any services for autism. In addition to the funding from Penn Mar Disability Serives,
Joseph is our second kiddo to be awarded a grant through Small Steps of Speech. Joseph has enough funding for speech
therapy sessions twice a week during the school year and three times over the summer. Joseph has autism and suspected
apraxia; however, he tries so hard to communicate. He is beginning to use his words a thrill for him and his family!
